Local knowledge
What Pererenan is really like
Pererenan is the next stretch north of Canggu and has both beach and reef sections. It is generally quieter than the central breaks, which makes it a relaxed place to surf away from the crowd.
The mix of sand and reef means conditions vary along the beach and with the tide, so it rewards a bit of local reading. We use it for calmer intermediate sessions and as a guided option when we want space.
It is not the spot we would put a first-timer at by default because of the reef sections, but for building confidence with fewer people around it is a good call on the right day.
Is it right for you?
Better as an intermediate or guided spot than a first-lesson wave, mainly due to the reef sections.
Getting there
A short ride north of the Batu Bolong base. We agree the meeting point when you book.
FAQ
Pererenan questions
What people ask us most about this break. Message us if your question is not covered.
Is Pererenan suitable for beginners?
It has reef sections, so it is not our default first-lesson spot. We use it more for calmer intermediate and guided sessions where you want fewer people around.
Why is Pererenan quieter than Canggu?
It is the next stretch north of the central breaks, so it tends to draw fewer surfers. That calmer vibe is the main reason we head there.
Does Pererenan have reef?
Yes, it has a mix of sand and reef sections, so conditions change along the beach and with the tide. We read it on the day and pick the safest peak.
